Note: Due to the recent passing of California SB2, training times and Costs have changed significantly.

The new training requirements as of January 2024 require 16 hours for initial CCW applications and 8 hours for renewal. We have adjusted our training and pricing to fit the new requirements.

Initial COST:       $375.00

WHD offers the legal required initial 16 hour CCW course for applying for  your CCW (Riverside County).  You can qualify with up to six different weapons, ranging in caliber(s) from .380–.45 ACP, using a semi-auto or revolver.  This course meets the safety and qualification requirements needed to obtain a CCW from Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for the ability to carry lawfully within the state of California where permitted with a CCW.  The applicant must demonstrate the safe handling and operation of their firearm(s) on the range in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Equipment to bring for INITIAL:

  • Pistol(s) You are able to qualify for up to 6 weapons per your initial qualification course at no additional cost. 
  • 200 rounds of factory ammunition for each weapon. NO RELOADS!

Renewal COST:  $225.00

We also hold the legally required 8 hour requalification course for your 2 year renewal for a private citizen.

We are approved by the Sheriffs for both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

Equipment to bring for RENEWAL:

  • Pistol(s)
  • Minimum of 100 rounds of factory ammunition for each weapon. NO RELOADS!

Required Gear for the Range:

  • All pistols you want recorded on your CCW license
  • At least two magazines or two speed loaders if using a revolver
  • Quality holster for each weapon that will be attached to a very sturdy belt. Holster can be inside the waist band (IWB) or outside the waist band (OWB).
  • Strong sturdy belt
  • Hat/cover for the sun
  • Eye protection—wrap around the eyes are preferred.
  • Ear protection
  • No tank tops
  • No low cut top, tops with an open midriff, no cleavage showing or going bra less.
  • Sturdy shoes of some kind. No open toed shoes or dress shoes or high heels of any kind.
  • No real tight pants that you cannot place items (like magazines) in the pockets.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for the weather of the day. We shoot wind, heat, humidity or shine.

Optional Items:

  • WATER Bring a sufficient amount
  • Food/snack(s) (enough to get YOU through the course).
  • Sunscreen
  • Folding chair
  • Knee Pads

If you are a first time shooter, I highly recommend you take our basic pistol beginner’s course.
